Dubai, 14 June 2011 - Volkswagen Middle East technicians triumphed at the 2011 Service Qualification World Championship event with first and second place in the Regional Master Technician category being awarded to recipients from the Middle East. The championship was organised to honour and reward Volkswagen service advisors and technicians who have demonstrated the highest levels in service quality, professional and technical knowledge.

Present at the awards ceremony was Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG whose motto for the weekend was: “Be one of the world’s best – be a part of it.” Winterkorn said: “The Qualification World Championship has yet again demonstrated that Volkswagen has outstanding service experts on board. As ambassadors for the Volkswagen brand, I am sure you will continue to do your utmost to make our customers all over the world even more satisfied.”

140 participants, from 70 countries took part in extensive theory and practical tests as well as problems solve tasks over the three day event held in Wolfsburg, Germany. Andreas Schaefer from Behbehani Motors Company Kuwait and Elie Bourji from Ets.F.A.Kettaneh Lebanon were awarded first and second place respectively, in the regional competition for Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.

Andreas Boethfuehr, After Sales Director, Volkswagen Middle East commented: “This is an outstanding achievement for both Andreas and Elie, and for the Middle East region as recognition for the exceptional work our technicians provide to our customers. The aim of the program is to secure and further enhance the service quality of the Volkswagen brand worldwide, thereby increasing customer satisfaction, which is of great importance to us.”

The championship is an ongoing programme from Volkswagen to continuously improve service standards and ensure that technicians and service advisors are kept up-to-date with the latest information and skills. It also provides an excellent platform to discuss new insights and ideas in the areas of service and technology with industry experts.

“These awards are a chance for our service staff to showcase the continuing improvements in their capabilities and reward their dedication. Volkswagen puts an essential focus on After Sales services,” concluded Boethfuehr.
The Volkswagen Service Qualification World Championship is now in its fourth year and has proven to be a great success for Volkswagen and amongst its participants.
