Teams from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are currently hosting regional qualification matches which will take place until the 30th April. The eight top teams, six from Dubai and Abu Dhabi and two from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will be invited to play in the finals to be held on the 7th May in Dubai.
The squad crowned Volkswagen Junior Masters Middle East Champions will be invited on an exciting all-expense paid trip to the home of Volkswagen in Germany, Wolfsburg sponsored by Lufthansa German Airlines. The trip scheduled to take place later in the year includes playing against a German junior team as well as visiting the Autostadt, one of the world’s biggest mobility theme parks.
Stefan Mecha, Managing Director Volkswagen Middle East, commented: “We’re delighted that teams from the Middle East are participating for the second year in the Volkswagen Junior Masters Soccer Tournament, and we look forward to welcoming the eight regional teams to Dubai for the exciting final matches.”
“Last year the Middle East was very successful at the world finals of the competition, held in Madrid, with the Middle East Champions from the Al Ain soccer team finishing fourth in the tournament. We wish all participating teams, the best of luck.”
The regional tournament is sponsored by a number of supporters who have collaborated to organise this year’s event including the United Arab Emirates Football Association, who has chosen Volkswagen Middle East as its Official Automotive Partner.
PUMA, the leading Sportlifestyle Company, has once again teamed up with Volkswagen Middle East in this tournament as an official partner. Like Volkswagen Middle East, PUMA is dedicated to actively engaging young people in sports emphasising the importance of fitness as part of leading a health life.
Other contributing sponsors helping to keep the participating teams hydrated, energised and protected from the sun include; Nestlé Water, Haribo and Nivea Sun.
The event began in Germany over a decade ago, as part of Volkswagen’s commitment to support youth and sports around the world. The tournament is aimed at boys under the age of 13 and has grown to include 4,700 youth players, 333 teams, and 245 dealers in its home country alone. Today, the tournament takes place in 23 countries worldwide.
