Volkswagen Middle East announces the 2012 Junior Masters Soccer Tournament.


Dubai, 25 March 2012 – Volkswagen Middle East announces the third annual Junior Masters Soccer Tournament Middle East finals, to take place in Dubai on 5th May 2011 (time and venue will be announced shortly).

Teams from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are currently hosting regional qualification matches which will take place until the 12th April 2012. The ten top teams will be invited to play in the finals to be held on the 5th May in Dubai. The winning team is going to participate the Junior World Masters 2012 taking place in Warsaw, Poland from 30 May - 03 June 2012.

The squad crowned Volkswagen Junior Masters Middle East Champion is going to participate the Junior World Masters 2012 taking place in Warsaw, Poland from 30 May - 03 June 2012.

Stefan Mecha, Managing Director Volkswagen Middle East, commented: “We’re delighted that teams from the Middle East are participating for the third year in the Volkswagen Junior Masters Soccer Tournament, and we look forward to welcoming the ten regional teams to Dubai for the exciting final matches.”

“In 2010 the Middle East was very successful at the world finals of the competition, held in Madrid, with the Middle East Champions from the Al Ain soccer team finishing fourth in the tournament. We wish all participating teams, the best of luck.”

The regional tournament is sponsored by a number of supporters who have collaborated to organise this year’s event including the United Arab Emirates Football Association, who has chosen Volkswagen Middle East as its Official Automotive Partner.

PUMA, the leading Sportlifestyle Company, has once again teamed up with Volkswagen Middle East in this tournament as an official partner. Like Volkswagen Middle East, PUMA is dedicated to actively engaging young people in sports emphasising the importance of fitness as part of leading a health life.

The event began in Germany over a decade ago, as part of Volkswagen’s commitment to support youth and sports around the world. The tournament is aimed at boys under the age of 13 and has grown to include 4,700 youth players, 333 teams, and 245 dealers in its home country alone. Today, the tournament takes place in 23 countries worldwide.
